Heriot-Watt Post-Graduate Representative (PGR)

2024-2026

When I beginning my PhD at Heriot-Watt, I took the initiative to engage with social and community groups. In these roles, I organised community events, built and managed social media communities, attended union meetings, and represented the student body on key issues. Roles I undertook include the following:

  • School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) PGR Representative
  • Equity, Diversity, Inclusivity (EDI) Committee Panel
  • Institute of Biology, Biophysics, and Biological Chemistry (IB3) PGR Representative
  • Post-graduates of IB3 Society (PoBBBs) PGR representative

Carleton University Undergraduate Representative

2020-2024

During my undergraduate degree at Carleton University, I engaged in various social societies that involved social media presence, organising social events, attending panel meetings, and public speaking. Roles I undertook include the following:

  • EDI Biology Panel
  • Carleton University Biology Society (CUBS)
  • Carleton International Internship Ambassador

Humanitarian Trip to Guatemala

2019

Embarked on a journey to Guatemala to contribute to the construction of roads and homes and engage with
children in an economically disadvantaged community.

Special Needs Learning Assistant

2016-2020

Created a social club for students to spend lunchtimes with a group of differently-abled and autistic students by
talking, playing games, baking, and planning engaging activities.

Library Assistant

2013-2015

Volunteered at the local public library, assisting with restocking shelves, returning books, and ensuring the
library space remained organised and accessible for patrons.
